Huddersfield Town Under-17s’ Joshua Okopolokpo has seen significant changes in his playing style throughout his first season with the Young Terriers.
Joshua has become a key part of Jon Worthington’s Under-17 side, with 19 appearances to his name so far this season.
The youngster was quick to comment on how this current block of training has helped him.
“I’ve been working on playing out from the back and the building stages.
“I’ve been looking at stepping in when I need to, different types of passes I can play into the striker or the midfielders, I’ve been working on my rotation as well.
“It’s given me a lot more options for my play when I go into games.
“Plus, I think it’s effective for a centre half to know how to play out from the back correctly, and at the right times.”
Since joining in the summer, the centre-half has seen his playing style develop significantly, something which he’s happy to admit.
“At the start I wasn’t as confident and I wasn’t on the ball as much.
“My passing wasn’t as good either, but I’ve definitely come a long way.
“I’d say my technical ability has improved the most. I’m much more comfortable on the ball and can step in at the right time and provide a variety of different passes depending on which is best for the situation.”
Joshua and his teammates are back in action tomorrow (Saturday 22 February) when they travel to take on Rotherham United at PPG Canalside.
Kick-off is 11am and Huddersfield Town supporters are welcome to attend.
