23 September 2017

‘Young Terriers’ win at Forest

- Town U18s win 4-1 against Nottingham Forest
- Goals from George Danaher, Dom Tear, Olly Dyson & Mason O’Malley
- Highlights on HTTV next week

Having not had a game last weekend, Huddersfield Town Under-18s were in action as they travelled to the East Midlands to face an unbeaten Nottingham Forest side.

Leigh Bromby made four changes from his sides last game against Crystal Palace as Mason O’Malley, Dom Tear, Isaac Marriott and Olly Dyson were all handed starts in place of Ethan Vaughan, Dahomey Raymond, Jake Kelly and Micah Obiero.

The game - that was played at the Nottingham Forest Football Academy - kicked off at 11.30am with Town looking for their third win of the season over a Nottingham Forest side that were yet to be defeated.

The first piece of action came around the half-hour mark as Town were awarded a penalty granting them the perfect opportunity to take the goal advantage. George Danaher stepped up and duly fired Town into the lead.

Forest pegged the Terriers back only four minutes later as Yassine En-Neyah’s goal was to send the sides into the break with the scores level at 1-1.

The second-half began and Town were to come out firing. Dom Tear notched Town’s second goal of the game in the 55th minute and more were to come.

The host were then reduced to ten-men with a Nottingham Forest player shown a straight-red card for an elbow on a Town player – George Danaher was also shown a yellow card in the incident.

Town capitalised on the man advantage as Olly Dyson grabbed Town’s third of the afternoon in the 70th minute. The rout was complete 15 minutes later as full-back Mason O’Malley powered his free-kick into the top corner to condemn Nottingham Forest to their first defeat of the season.

Next up for the Under-18s is a home-tie against Sheffield United at PPG Canalside next Saturday.

Town's Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
Luke Mewitt; Mason O’Malley, Oran Thompson (c), Cameron Taylor, Ben Jackson; Isaac Marriott (Micah Obiero, 80’), Scott High; Matty Daly, Olly Dyson, Dom Tear; George Danaher
