Young Terriers take maximum points in the Midlands

- Town’s Under-18s win at Birmingham
- Goals from Matty Daly, George Danaher & Olly Dyson
- Highlights on HTTV next week!

Huddersfield Town Under-18s were back in action on Saturday morning as they travelled to the Midlands to face Birmingham City for a midday kick-off in the Professional Development League.

Leigh Bromby made two changes to the side that drew 3-3 with Sheffield United at PPG Canalside last Saturday as Mason O’Malley and Tom Murphy were introduced in place of Cameron Taylor and Luke Mewitt.

The hosts – coached by Steve Spooner - came into the game bottom of the Professional Development League North division having secured six points from their opening six games this season.

Birmingham took the lead inside the first 8 minutes and lead the game by the single goal up until young-winger Matty Daly grabbed an equaliser, his second goal in consecutive games for his side.

Leigh Bromby’s side rallied and in the 27th minute took the lead as Cheshire-born forward George Danaher was on target to send Town into a 2-1 lead.

They were quickly pegged back two minutes later as the hosts grabbed an equaliser as the sides went into the break with the score at two-goals apiece.

Seven minutes into the second-half, Town grabbed what would turn out to be the eventual match-winner as Olly Dyson got his name on the scoresheet to secure maximum points for the Terriers in the Midlands.

Next up for Leigh Bromby’s side will be a game against Barnsley at PPG Canalside next Saturday (14 October) with kick-off scheduled for 11am.

Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
Tom Murphy; Mason O’Malley, Ben Jackson, Oran Thompson (Cameron Taylor, 70’), Jordan Thomas; Scott High, Isaac Marriott; Matty Daly, Olly Dyson, Dom Tear; George Danaher (Micah Obiero, 53’)
