Town U18s triumph in South Yorkshire

- Town’s Under-18s win at Barnsley
- OG, Marriott & Obiero on target for Town
- Highlights on #HTTV this week

Huddersfield Town Under-18s played their first game of 2018 on Saturday morning as they visited Yorkshire rivals Barnsey for an 11am kick-off.

Leigh Bromby made three changes to the side that suffered defeat against Birmingham City last weekend with Jordan Eli, Scott High and ‘keeper Luke Mewitt all coming into the side in place of Mason O’Malley, Aaron Rowe and Harrison Davison-Hale.

The game began, and Town were forced into an early change as captain Oran Thompson took a hefty knock early on and had to be taken off; Tom Bamford was his replacement.

Town were to take the lead just over a quarter of an hour into the game, some good play from midfielder Isaac Marriott saw the ball find Ben Jackson out wide left. The left-back crossed and saw his ball into the box turned in by a Barnsley defender to give Town the goal advantage.

Isaac Marriott would double Town’s lead a minute into the second half as he converted from 25yards to fire the U18s into a two-goal lead.

Barnsley were pushing for a way back into the game and got their goal just after hour mark. Moon headed home a cross for the Tykes reducing the Terriers advantage to just one goal.

With Barnsley pushing for an equaliser, Town weathered the storm and got their third of the afternoon through Micah Obiero to seal the win for Leigh Bromby’s side in South Yorkshire.

Next up for the Under-18s is a game against Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday at PPG Canalside; 11am kick off.

Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
