19 August 2017

Town Under-18’s secure a point in Essex

- Town Under-18’s draw at Colchester
- Micah Obiero with the goal for Town
- Highlights on HTTV next week

Leigh Bromby took his Under-18 side to Colchester on Saturday morning and despite taking the lead through Micah Obiero, could only manage a 1-1 draw.

Following on from Monday’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Bristol City, Town’s under-18s travelled to Essex on Saturday morning to face Colchester United for the second game of their Professional Development League campaign.

The was to be played at Colchester United’s Florence Park training ground on Saturday morning with kick off scheduled for 11am.

Leigh Bromby made two changes to the starting line-up from Monday’s win as Dahomey Raymond and Mason O’Malley were handed starts; with Dom Tear and Cameron Taylor dropping out.

It took Town 23minutes to get the opening goal of the game. A well-executed counter-attack was finished off by young forward, Micah Obiero to double his goal tally for the season two games in.

Town ran in with the lead at half time, but it took the host only three minutes of the second half for them to be back on level terms; as Noah Chilvers was on target.

A double-substitution for Town was made in the 79minute as Cameron Taylor and U16 player Conner Shanks were introduced to proceedings in place of Mason O’Malley and Dahomey Raymond; but Town were unable to get the winner as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Next up for Leigh Bromby’s side is a home tie against Watford next Saturday; kick off scheduled for 11am.
