Swansea City will be looking to go into the World Cup break with a win after they drew 2-2 away against Birmingham City on Tuesday 8 November.
THE OPPOSITION
This is Swansea City’s fifth season in the Championship since they were relegated from the Premier League after the 2017/18 season, following their seven year stay in the top flight.
Russell Martin was named Head Coach of the Swans in August 2021, just before the start of the Sky Bet Championship 2021/22 season, on a three-year contract. Swansea finished 15th in the league after his first season in charge.
Swansea City currently sit eighth in the table, after having won one, drawn three and lost one of their last five games.
ONES TO WATCH
Ryan Manning
The defender arrived at Swansea from QPR in October 2020, on a three-year deal, and made 21 appearances in his first season. Before joining Swansea, the 26-year-old already had a wealth of Championship experience, making 87 league appearances with QPR before going on loan with Rotherham United. This season, Manning has played 18 games, scored three goals, and made two assists.
Oliver Cooper
Cooper joined the Swansea City Academy at Under-12 level and has risen through the ranks with the Swans. The 22-year-old broke into the first team in the 2020/21 season, where he made his first Championship appearances, before going on loan to Newport County for the 201/22 season. This season, Cooper has made 17 appearances, scored three goals, and made one assist.
Joël Piroe
Swansea’s top scorer this season so far, joined Swansea in the summer of 2021 after spending five years with PSV. The striker made his mark on the Swans after he scored 24 times in his first season, and he will be looking to do the same this season. So far this season, Piroe has made 17 appearances and scored five goals.
