Huddersfield Town were held to an entertaining 2-2 Sky Bet Championship draw at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Huddersfield Town were held to an action-packed 2-2 Sky Bet Championship draw at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

A game of two halves, Tino Anjorin’s first half brace was cancelled out by a Jed Wallace brace.

It was Town who started the game the brighter of the two sides, playing the majority of the opening 10 minutes in the attacking third.

Anjorin opened the scoring in the 11th minute! His first goal at the John Smith’s Stadium – the ball was worked to our no.8 from a short corner wide of the box, and he made no mistake in whipping one past Button with some serious pace!

Lee Nicholls was called into action five minutes lately, very calming plucking a West Brom cross out of the air. Seconds later, John Swift tried to replicate Anjorin’s goal from a very similar position, but his strike was well over Nicholls’ crossbar.

Our ‘keeper was called into action again in the 21st minute, with a fantastic save to deny Okay Yokuşlu.

Anjorin got his second as the clock showed 30 minutes played! A fantastic solo goal for our Chelsea loanee, he won the wall back pressing high wide right, broke clear into the box, and stuck one confidently past Button one-on-one!

Eight minutes later, West Brom pulled one back. Grady Diangana found Wallace inside the box, who was completely free to receive the ball and finish.

The game then settled for a period, with both sides breaking forward at any given opportunity.

The last chance of the first half saw Swift try his luck from a direct free-kick, but it went comfortably over Nicholls’ crossbar.

The second half picked up where the first left off, with both sides taking it in turn to attack at pace.

However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the second half, with Wallace bagging his brace in the 57th minute to equalise the scoreline.

Two minutes later, Jack Rudoni received the first booking of the game for a foul on Wallace in midfield.

The 64th minute saw some lovely work from Rudoni end with a cross from Sorba Thomas, but Danny Ward was marked out in the middle and unable to get to it.

As the clock showed 76 minutes played, some great combination play between second half substitute Duane Holmes and Kaine Kesler-Hayden resulted in a Town corner. A brilliant delivery from Thomas was cleared behind for another corner, which looked to have been turned in at the far post by Rudoni, but it was somehow cleared off the line and blasted away by the visitors!

Nine minutes later, just two minutes after his introduction, second half substitute Jordan Rhodes came incredibly close! Following a great cross from Thomas, it was almost a goal with his first touch for Rhodes, but it went just wide!

The 87th minute saw huge penalty cries from West Brom as second half substitute Will Boyle went sliding in on Karlan Grant, but the referee waved them away.

Seconds later, Josh Ruffels hit the bar! An incredible strike from distance from the left back, with Rhodes’ follow up deflected for a corner.

As the clock showed three minutes of added time played, Rudoni went wide! Town worked it well down the left through Rudoni, Ruffels, and Thomas, but the final effort from Rudoni went just wide off his right boot.

The referee blew his whistle, seeing the points shared at the John Smith’s Stadium.
