Defender to sign a two-year contract with the Terriers

- Huddersfield Town agree the signing of Josh Ruffels
- Defender to sign a two-year contract, with a Club option year
- Comments from Leigh Bromby & Carlos Corberán

Josh Ruffels has agreed to join Huddersfield Town as a free agent on 1 July 2021!

The 27-year-old left-back will put pen-to-paper on a two-year-deal, with the Club having the option of a further year’s extension.

Josh will become a Terrier after departing Sky Bet League 1 side Oxford United this summer, having made more than 300 appearances for the Club over the last eight-years.

During the 2020/21 campaign, the left-back had his most prolific season to date scoring seven goals in all competitions and setting up six for his teammates. He made 48 appearances for the U’s last season in all competitions, including two games in the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs.

Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“We are really happy that Josh has agreed to join the Club this summer. He has been performing very well over the last couple of years for Oxford United and was particularly impressive for them last season as they reached the League 1 Play-Off Semi-Finals.

“He will be a fantastic addition to the squad and will add a lot of quality and options to the team. He’s an attack-minded left-back, who loves to create opportunities for his teammates, which will really suit the way Carlos likes to play. Not only this, he’s another excellent addition to the dressing room.

“It was clear from speaking to him that he has a real desire to prove himself in the Championship and to push himself as much as possible, which is exactly what we want from our players.”

Head Coach Carlos Corberán added:

“Josh has a real desire to contribute to the team in both boxes; he has the ability to create chances for his teammates, but also wants to keep the ball out of the back of our net.

“He is an offensive left-back, who has also played in the middle of the pitch, which shows a good level of versatility, which will help the team.

“He has played many minutes and a lot of games in a row over the last few years, which shows he is physically ready to adapt to the Championship, so we look forward to working with him.”
