HARTLEPOOL 0 TOWN RESERVES 5

Posted on: Wed 18 Mar 2009

A hat-trick from trialist striker Chris Fagan was the highlight of a resounding 5-0 victory for Town's Reserve side at Hartlepool United this evening.

The second string have cemented their place at the top of the totesport.com League with this comprehensive victory on Reserve Team Manager Paul Stephenson's return to his former club, by defeating second-placed Hartlepool.

Captain Michael Flynn (pictured) opened the scoring as early as the 10th minute, slotting the ball home coolly after a typical forward run into the opposition penalty area, but then trialist Fagan took centre stage - converting a corner in the 25th minute before capitalizing on hesitancy amongst the home defence to net his second goal soon afterwards.

Centre-back and under-18 captain Spencer Harris added Town's fourth goal after the interval, heading home a well delivered corner from substitute and fellow Academy scholar Aiden Chippendale, before Fagan completed his hat-trick on his Town debut by rounding the home goalkeeper late in the game.

Town custodian Simon Eastwood was barely called into action at the other end of the pitch as Town comfortably defeated their hosts at Billingham.
