Town boss Lee Clark secured the services of highly-rated striker Lee Novak from Blue Square North side Gateshead for an undisclosed fee in the January 2009 transfer window, beating off several other Championship and League One clubs for his signature.

Part of that deal saw Novak return to Gateshead for the remainder of the 2008/09 campaign to continue his development as a player and he secured the division's Golden Boot award as 'The Heed' secured promotion.

A tall and powerful figure, Lee started his football career in Scotland with Gretna before a move into non-league with Newcastle Blue Star. He topped the Club's scoring charts and was picked up by Gateshead, where he notched 17 goals in 19 games.

At Town he has become an instant fans' favourite thanks to his incredible work-rate and impressive goals tally, which he would be looking to better in the new campaign.

His contract with the Club runs until the summer of 2013.
