Oldham-born Mitchell is yet another product of Gerry Murphy's Academy, who was handed his first professional contract for this season.
A central midfielder with an amazing range of passing and good vision, he had a good season for the Academy side and impressed in his Reserve team appearances. He is well capable of shooting from long-range too. Mitchell is contracted to Town until the summer of 2008.
