Matty signed his first pro contract with Town in the summer of 2003 having graduated from the Academy but he had to wait two years for his first-team debut which came during Town's 3-1 win over Walsall in October 2005, when he came off the bench.

The Leeds-born midfielder is one of the hardest workers in the team as well as one of the most versatile, being able to play anywhere across the midfield four. He is contracted until the summer of 2008.
