Following early spells at Everton and Runcorn, Ian Craney's career took off at Altrincham in 2001, aged 19, before Accrington Stanley paid £17,500 for him in June 2004 for his first spell at the Club.
His excellent form earned him the title of 'Conference Player of the Year' and a move to Swansea City on loan in November 2006, before signing for The Swans in January 2007 for £150,000. After just 6 months at the Welsh club he was loaned back to Accrington, and in July 2007 Stanley signed him back for £85,000.
After spending a full season with the Stans, Town then signed him for an undisclosed fee in August 2008.
A central midfielder by trade, Craney is known for his impressive goalscoring rate and excellent ball retention.
