Big Matt moved to the Galpharm Stadium during the summer of 2006 from Scottish side St. Johnstone. He caught the eye of ex-Town manager Peter Jackson after some impressive performances against the Terriers for his former club Carlisle.
The much-travelled 'keeper was the only ever-present of the 2006/07 season, saving an amazing three penalties in one game against Crewe Alexandra at the Galpharm Stadium! One of Matt's main strengths (other than saving penalties!) is his excellent communication and he is one of few goalies to have scored a goal in a professional game, scoring late on for his former club at Ross County in March 2006. He is contracted to Town until the summer of 2010, with the Club having an option of a further year.
