DAN'S THE MAN

Andy Booth is looking forward to playing alongside new signing Danny Cadamarteri and pledged: "He'll give us the pace we need."

Legend Booth has been resting up at the end of his testimonial year but will be raring to go when he links up with Cadamarteri and the squad for pre-season training.

Manager Andy Ritchie has already confirmed he's not looking for any more strikers, and Booth believes Cadamarteri will be determined to make the most of his two-year chance at the Galpharm.

"Everyone knows we needed some pace, especially up front, and Danny has definitely got that," said Booth today.

"I remember him bursting on the scene a long time ago and I recall playing against him only a couple of years ago when he was with Bradford and we were worried about his pace back then. He's quick, but he's also a very good player and I think he will do well for us.

"The gaffer has given him a big opportunity with a two-year contract and I think Danny will rise to that and prove a very good signing for us."

While eight players were released last season, two have been added and others are expected soon and Booth believes Cadamarteri will blossom at this stage of his career.

"He will love coming to Town because it's a great club," confirmed Booth.

"The lads are very friendly and they will welcome him, so it will be easy for him to settle in.

"We've been crying out for some pace, everyone knows that, so he will give us an extra dimension and that will be great."

Ritchie is hoping he might be able to make a third signing of the summer - after Cadamarteri and Frank Sinclair - before the weekend.

With tickets for the pre-season friendly against Premiership Blackburn now on sale, however, the first point of interest will be Thursday's release of the fixtures for next season, when Town have Leeds United as their big derby date.
