CLARK FULLY FOCUSED ON O'S

Posted on: Fri 10 Feb 2012

Huddersfield Town Manager Lee Clark told htafc.com this morning that he and his players are fully focused on Leyton Orient, regardless of tomorrow's pitch inspection at the Matchroom Stadium.

"We are preparing as if the game is on," said Clark. "The forecast isn't great down south, but we have just got to focus in on the game being on."

Lee confirmed that he and his coaching staff have plans in place if the game was to be called off tomorrow morning.

"We have got a plan, which would be to work towards Sheffield United over the next couple of days. We made preparations a few days ago ready for if the game on Saturday was called off - all aspects have been covered beforehand. The focus would turn towards Sheffield United."

The inclement weather has also made training difficult for Lee and his players this week.

"It has affected us in terms of getting on grass, but we have used other facilities such as 3G surfaces which have been really good for us. That kind of surface isn't ideal for all the players; those that have had serious injuries in the past can't train on it so they have been limited to doing work in the gym. The weather is here for us all, so every team has to deal with it in one way or another. Unless you are a big Premier League team who has under soil heating at their training ground, we are all in the same boat."

If the weather holds off and the game goes ahead as planned, Lee is under no illusions that Russell Slade's men will make it a very tough affair for his players.

"Russell is a very good manager - he is a good man, I like him a lot. I have got to know him well since I became a manager. He has a good squad of players, as they have proven on numerous occasions this season. They have had some good results against the top teams in the League - you could probably say that they have been a little inconsistent, but they are certainly a good team."

Peter Clarke underwent hernia surgery last Tuesday and Clark confirmed that everything had gone well.

"It has gone very well and if he follows the same route as Gary Roberts - who is absolutely flying at the moment - then Peter won't miss too many games. With the Stevenage game cancelled next weekend we have structured his operation and recovery to make sure he misses the fewest amount of games possible."

In Clarke's absence Jamie McCombe and Sean Morrison have formed a promising partnership.

"They have done really well," said Lee. "Sean has been very good since he joined the Club and Jamie, when he plays regularly, finds his rhythm and is a good player."

Deadline day signing Kallum Higginbotham has also made a big impression since his arrival and Lee is delighted by what he has seen.

"We all excited by what we have seen - I thought he was outstanding last week against MK Dons. He is a terrific little player and is something a little bit different and I believe that we have got a very good young player on our hands."
