CLARK: "WE ARE PLAYING WITH CONFIDENCE"
Lee Clark looks ahead to this weekend's game against Hartlepool:
"I think we played very well last week. Some of the attacking play was of the highest quality, but we were just as pleased with the clean sheet
"The Sky cameras weren't important but it is good that we are being talked about in the right way. I think people realise what I have been talking about and what good players we've got. The lads used it in the right manner and not as an audition for themselves. They showed that they are good individuals and good in the frame of the team.
"It couldn't have gone any better to be honest, but that's gone now. It's there in the history books, but that's nothing to us this weekend, Hartlepool is now the focus and we're in for a tough game.
"There's always room for improvement. We have a bunch of players with a lot of desire and potential to improve and they will because that desire is in them. We see it every day, players wanting to stay behind and do a bit of extra work on their weaknesses. When you've got that you will always have improvement, how quickly it comes, no one knows. I've said all along they can play at a higher level and they're determined to do that.
"I think teams coming here will respect us, like we respect them. Hartlepool has one of the best away records in the League and are unbeaten in five in the League. They're not far off the play-offs themselves, so we know this will be one difficult game.
"It's not always going to be case of scoring 4, 5 or 6, we will have to be patient sometimes to get maybe the one goal that will get us the victory. I've been in this game long enough to know that it isn't always going to be like this, but we are certainly looking forward to this weekend because we are playing with a lot of confidence.
"I think that teams will come and try and nullify us, stop us playing and combat us. A couple of teams have come and done that and when I've seen them play at different places they go back to their own systems. We prepare the team for all different scenarios depending on the opposition.
"Goals are a bonus for Peter Clarke. He's a terrific leader, very honest and very mature for his age but the main attribute that made me bring him here is that he's a very, very good defender.
"Lee Novak is fine. He trained from Tuesday and he's up and running. I think everyone is desperate when they are in the team, they don't want to lose their place because it might be a while before they get it back in and we are trying to keep a bit of continuity.
"The players see what everyone else sees and they know it's impossible for me to change the team because no one deserves to be left out. They can all see what's happening at the Club, that we are trying to move it forward in lots of different aspects, not just on the field. I can understand how players get frustrated, it's happened to me before in my career, but I've not had any of them knocking on the door saying they want to go elsewhere. Their chance will come, they just have to be patient."
