Town boss Lee Clark cannot wait to get underway in this season's FA Cup.
The 37-year old will be involved in the First Round of the world-famous competition for the first time on Friday night when Dagenham visit Huddersfield - as a player, he never dropped below the Championship and as such, never entered the Cup below round three.
"I have some good occasions in the cup; the furthest I got was the semi-finals with Fulham, when unfortunately our neighbours Chelsea knocked us out at Villa Park," Lee told the Club's official website.
"I never reached the pinnacle in terms of an FA Cup Final, but we have Terry McDermott here who has won the competition and he has been telling the players how important it is to treat the Cup properly. It is a very prestigious competition - probably the most prestigious in world football. I think we have to treat it right, try and win the football match and hopefully progress.
"We have got what we wanted - a home draw. However, Dagenham will be tough opposition. They are going well in their League and they have an experienced manager in John Still. We know it's not going to be easy but we got the home draw so we are hoping we can be successful and get the same in the next round.
"Dagenham will come here full of confidence. They have done well in League Two and are a very competitive side. They will come here with nothing to lose and will make it very tough for us, so we will have to be ready for that and respect them - which we certainly do. We have watched them play on numerous occasions now and have done our homework on them; the players have got to have the right mindset ahead of the game and be prepared for a tough match. However, we are at home and have got a great record here, which we will be looking to continue.
"We view the cup with a winning mentally - you just can't beat winning football matches. I wouldn't say it's a distraction as we have over a week until our next league match and the game will provide us with continuity. We treat all the competitions with the same mentality; I don't believe we should view one above any other - I think you should go into every game attempting to win. For a club like Huddersfield, who are playing in League One, we have got to look at winning two FA Cup matches to be in with a chance of getting a prestigious Third Round draw.
"No games are ever easy. We just have to look back to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy this season when we got knocked out by a lower league team, albeit on penalties. The players mustn't think the game will be easy against a side in a lower division because if you do, nine times out of ten you end up with egg on your face. Whichever players are picked, they are playing to stay in the side. We know we have got a strong squad and if someone underperforms then we change the team.
"The scouting system we have in place now is growing all the time and as soon as the draw was made we shipped out our scouts to watch Dagenham on as many occasions as possible. We gathered plenty of match reports and were also able to get our hands on some footage of their previous games. We have shown them the same respect as the League One clubs that we play, the same respect as when we went up to Newcastle United. I believe that is the only way to think in this game; if you think you have got an easy game around the corner, then football has got a nasty habit of making things a bit unsavoury for you."
Town face an unusual Friday night home game as a Rugby League international is taking place at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday, but Clark is not worried about the change in time.
"I chose to have the game on a Friday night. I got the option of playing on either Friday or Sunday, but I just thought playing under the lights in the FA Cup could prove something special. Hopefully I will be proved right."
The Terriers come into the game on the back of their second away win of the season at Oldham last weekend.
"The win on Saturday was important for many reasons, but especially for the confidence of the players. We didn't want to get desperate to get a result away from home, as it could have affected our performances. It also gave us another three points and put us in a decent position in the League at this stage of the season.
"The Oldham game boosted our confidence even further. Our home form has been terrific and in our last few away games we haven't got what we deserved. However, certainly against Oldham you could call it a proper away performance - we kept a clean sheet, battled through horrible conditions and rounded off the performance with a terrific goal.
"We know nothing is won or lost right now, but it is nice when your in the top part of the League - whether that's in 6th or in the top two. We like having the points on the board; psychologically it's good for the team that we are in there. Now what I have proposed to the players is if we can actually stay there and let 6th be our lowest position till the end of the season, hopefully then we can put pressure on the teams above us."
