htafc.com talked to manager Stan Ternent ahead of Tuesday night's game at Darlington in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and he explained that everyone connected with the Club should look forward to the match.

The clash at the Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena is Town's first in the competition under Ternent and he told the Club's official website that it represents a chance for his side to grace the home of English football.

"It represents the most realistic chance for teams at our level and the one below of getting to Wembley and earning a few quid. It's important from that point of view," Stan explained.

"It's not on the radar initially, but when you get towards the later stages of it, it becomes attractive.

"I know the Club has been there once before, as Ronnie keeps reminding me of it!

"If we could get to Wembley, it would be marvellous. It would be a great day out for the fans and for the Club, but it isn't my priority - I would have preferred to draw Manchester United at home in the Cup, which would cover the financial side of things."

Before he starts to contemplate a journey to Wembley, Stan stressed that Town must concentrate on the difficult hurdle that the League Two side represent.

"Darlington are a very good side. They have a nice Stadium and a good manager and they will view it as a big game, so we'll have to be on our mettle. I imagine they will want to beat Huddersfield, as we'll be a big scalp for them.

"It's a match to look forward to. If you win any game, you get confidence from it."

Despite the importance Stan puts on the competition, he reiterated that his main concern is League One.

"My priority is the League and to improve the consistency of the team so that we do better than finishing mid-table, which has happened here for the last few years. The expectation level is such here that we now have to do better than that; the players and the fans are aware of it and other teams coming here are aware of it too, so it's a good place to come and play."

Given that, can we expect a bit of squad rotation for the game against the Quakers on Tuesday evening?

"We are Huddersfield - what squad rotation? I want to win every game we play in, so we'll field a full strength team. I might make one or two little changes, but it will be a strong side and we would like to progress if we possibly could."

In fact, the Gaffer wants his team to pick up exactly where they have left off in the last two fixtures.

"I think the players have done well in the last two games. To be fair, the only thing we haven't had is a little break. I think we just need that bit of good fortune, because I've been pleased with them for the past two games. We can certainly improve on little bits and pieces and that will come as they play together more, but they've been doing well recently. However, the bottom line has to be the results.

"I've had a chat to them today and obviously they were disappointed. The third Leicester goal was a fluke and I think it was a fairly harsh decision for the penalty when you think about the two we had turned down at Oldham, but in football you don't always get what you deserve. It's how you react to it that counts - you have to keep your chin up. It's my job to try and lift their spirits and I've told them that they just need a little break - keep doing what you're doing and playing in the same manner. A little run of wins will do more for their confidence than anything else, there's no question about that."

Ternent will be able to select loanee Liam Dickinson for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy game having received permission from parent club Derby County, but will be missing midfielder Ian Craney after he picked up a knock against Leicester City at the weekend.

Stan explained: "He's got a hamstring strain, but as for how bad it is I'm not quite sure yet. He's going for a scan and then we'll know, but we're hopeful that it isn't too bad. He won't be available for Darlington though.

"Boothy is having a scan on Thursday and he'll be in with the specialist; it's dragging on a bit now. Other than that, I think we're alright."
