htafc.com talked to Town manager Andy Ritchie today ahead of this evening's League One game against Millwall at the Galpharm Stadium to get his thoughts on the game.
With the big Cup weekend at Chelsea now firmly behind them, you may expect that Ritchie is urging his side to put the game out of their minds - but the Gaffer wants his players remember the match in order to help them out this evening.
"We now have to get the euphoria of the cup out of our system and concentrate on pushing up the league, but I don't want our lads to forget the Chelsea game entirely as I would hope that they all learned from the experience," Andy explained to the official website.
"Playing against some of the best footballers in the world, you have to try and learn from it. You only have to look at how quickly and accurately Frank Lampard distributes the ball and how he times his runs and all of our midfield players should now have something to aspire to."
Andy is expecting a difficult game against the Lions this evening and he is looking forward to seeing his opposite number for the first time since the 2006 Play-Off Final.
"Millwall are down at the wrong end of the league at the moment and are fighting for their lives, so I'm expecting a very tough game tonight. I'm looking forward to locking horns with Kenny Jackett again as the last time we met was the Play-Off Final between Barnsley and Swansea; it will be nice to see him again as he is a nice guy and a very good coach. On Saturday, he accused his players of not competing in their game and so we know it will be a real battle tonight."
With a massive eight games coming up over the next month, Ritchie will have his fingers crossed that his players stay fit. The club are monitoring the fitness of Captain Jon Worthington today and a late decision will be made regarding his availability due to his recent hamstring problem.
"We have a lot of games coming up over the next month and a half, so we are approaching a very important time in our season," Ritchie continued. "It is vital that we keep the squad as fit as possible over this period and it will be a massive boost to have Danny Cadamarteri back soon; we are hoping that he will feature for the Reserves here tomorrow. Hopefully we can continue to push up the League and get into the Play-Off zone."
