Huddersfield Town v Mansfield Town

Posted on: Tue 22 Aug 2006

Galph 300

This evening's game heralds the beginning of Town's Cup season and everyone is hoping this season's campaign will be as successful as last season's.

The run in the Carling Cup was one of the highlights of the season, culminating in the memorable game at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers after defeating Chesterfield in the first round.

Last time Town faced Mansfield was the scene of one of the greatest triumphs in the Club's recent history - the Play-Off Final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff which Town won on penalties.

Many of Mansfield's players from 2004 have moved on, such as Liam Lawrence whereas many of Town's players remain at the Club, particularly the Academy graduates such as Andy Holdsworth, Jonathan Worthington and Nathan Clarke.

A victory at the Galpharm this evening could see Town pitted against Premiership opposition in the next round.
