It's a break from League One for Town tomorrow as Andy Ritchie's side welcome League Two Grimsby Town to the Galpharm Stadium in the Second Round of the FA Cup sponsored by E.ON.

The Terriers will be fancied to win the game, but will face stern competition from a Mariners side that have kept two clean sheets in their last two games and who came out on top when the two sides met earlier in the season in the opening round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Grimsby, currently placed 20th in their division, are managed by Alan Buckley, who arguably became the most successful manager in the Club's history when he took the side from the basement division to what is now the Championship during his first spell in charge between 1988 and 1994.

PAST MEETINGS

Visiting Grimsby hold an advantage over Town when it comes to previous matches, having won 30 games in the past compared to Town's 22 - with 21 games ending in draws.

However, the record reverses in games on Huddersfield soil - Town having won 18 games compared to Grimsby's 10, with 8 draws. The Mariners last won in HD1 in 1996, when they visited the Galpharm Stadium for the first time and went away as 3-1 winners - Ronnie Jepson grabbing the Town consolation.

Andy Ritchie would welcome a repeat of Town's 5-1 home victory recorded back in 1947, when a brace from Captain Peter Doherty was complimented by strikes from Jimmy Glazzard, George Green and Alf Whittingham. However, September's 4-1 defeat at Blundell Park is perhaps the more relevant result, when Town were outplayed in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy - a performance the whole team will be looking to put behind them with a win tomorrow.

INS & OUTS

Since Town last played Grimsby in early September, Alan Buckley has made one signing - bringing in former Barnsley striker Nathan Jarman on a free transfer. The Scunthorpe-born goalscorer is currently on a month-by-month deal at Blundell Park and has only made one substitute appearance so far.

However, Buckley has been quite active in the loan market; bringing in Walsall striker Martin Butler, Barnsley defender Robert Atkinson and Doncaster defender Sam Hird - all of whom have been featuring on a fairly regular basis in the first sixteen.

Midfielder Nick Hegarty has left for York City on loan since Town traveled to Grimsby on September 4th, whereas Scunthorpe's New Zealand defender Dave Mulligan - who played against us on that day - has now returned to his parent Club.

TEAM NEWS - TOWN

Town are in good shape ahead of this weekend's game, with loan signing Phil Jevons having been given permission to feature in the FA Cup against his former Club by Bristol City manager Gary Johnson earlier this week.

Andy Booth returned to training yesterday and looks like he will be available for selection after a back problem, giving Andy Ritchie a welcome selection headache with all four strikers pushing for a starting slot.

Long-term injury victims Robbie Williams, Jon Worthington and Tom Clarke all played in Wednesday's Reserve game at Leicester City but Saturday's game is still a little bit early for them to be considered. The only other injury victim is goalkeeper Simon Eastwood, who is still recovering from his foot injury.

TEAM NEWS - GRIMSBY

Alan Buckley has indicated that he will stick with 'keeper Gary Montgomery ahead of Phil Barnes for Saturday's game, despite the latter having returned from his injury lay-off in a midweek Reserve game. Loan striker Martin Butler misses out through injury, but defender Justin Whittle will probably feature amongst the substitutes after recovering from an ankle injury. Paul Bolland will also be added to the squad after his thigh problem.

Loanees Rob Atkinson and Sam Hird have both been given permission by their Clubs to play in the FA Cup for the Mariners, but Danny Boshell will miss out as he serves the final match of his three game suspension.

ONE TO WATCH - CIARAN TONER

Ciaran Toner 320

Northern Ireland international Ciaran Toner has moved in from the wing and into the centre of midfield recently and has been an influential figure for Grimsby this season.

A former Tottenham Hotspur trainee, he has already scored four goals and gained four assists this season and he will no doubt add more to his tally given that he is the regular penalty taker for the Mariners.

Toner will have his work cut out tomorrow when he comes up against the in-form duo of Ronnie Wallwork and Andy Holdsworth, but his undoubted ability promises to make it a real battle for dominance in midfield!
