Form
Bearing in mind this is the first real pre-season friendly ahead of the 2007/08 season, form is hard to quantify. However, it would be fair to say that the arrival of Andy Ritchie coupled with the good end to last season has left both the team and it's supporters with a good feeling ahead of the new campaign.
AFC Emley's end of season form was contradictory to Town, as they failed to win any of their last three games. As a result, the team managed by the duo of Ray Dennis and Nicky Bramald finished 13th in the Northern Counties East Division One.
The Last Time the Sides Met
The match up at the Welfare Ground is now a regular occurrence as part of both teams' pre-season build-up and last year was no different. July 11th 2006 saw Peter Jackson's Town start their run-up to the League One season with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from strikers Andy Booth, John McAliskey and young midfielder Michael Collins.
The scorer of the last goal that evening went on to establish himself as a first-team regular in the coming season; perhaps Town fans should watch out for the next impressive performance on July 18th as an indicator of who the next youngster may be to break through into the first-team?
Ins and Outs
Town's pre-season additions Frank Sinclair, Danny Cadamarteri and Malvin Kamara could well be on show at the Welfare Ground on July 18th, but Emley will no doubt have their own additions on display for the game.
