Town boss Andy Ritchie on tonight's victory over Brighton

"I got the response I wanted in the first half, but not in the first 20 minutes of the second; but overall I think that we did a lot, lot better. First half, though, I think we should have come in about 4-0 but their keeper's made some great saves, but then so has Matty.

"When you think that we had so many corners and things that hit the keeper, we should be knocking those in because it gives you more breathing space. Second half, we tried to shoot ourselves in the foot again and we've talked about this time and time again; we do well I the first half, get in behind them until the game settles down and we tippy-tappy around in the second half and get caught. Mickey Collins should have got rid first, he laid it back to Pagey who dallies on it and it ends up a penalty and we're up against it. Brighton did what we did in the first half and didn't give us any room to play. We weathered the storm and that was the pleasing thing and we got back on top again.

"I feel a lot better than I did a 4pm this afternoon, never mind at Saturday tea-time, because it was still smarting with me. I said to the players before they went out that the season isn't over yet. There are a lot of points to play for and we owe ourselves a good performance and we know that we can do it. Doing it consistently is a state of mind that we have to instil in the players.

"We still have a lot of young player here that need to do a lot of growing up very quickly. When you are on top of teams you need to make sure that you finish them off.

"We need someone who can get us 17 to 20 goals a season, but those are unfortunately expensive commodities. We have to look to see what we can do. We need to inject some pace up front but we've been saying that all season - although I thought the two lads tonight were excellent. Luke (Beckett) was really on top form and Boothy seems to have his timing back and he's causing problems. Chris (Brandon) worked tirelessly up and down the left side and we deserved the three points, but yes, we have to freshen up and hopefully we will be able to do that.

"It was a low crowd, but we never go out to disappoint - sometimes that happens. They've missed a good game tonight. Maybe they should come down and stay for all the games, but I'm just pleased we managed to play some good football. It's not easy because teams don't let you play and at this stage of the season teams are going for promotion and fighting relegation and hopefully that's pushed us further up the table.

"Robbie had a knock to his foot but I was thinking about giving him a rest anyway so that basically made my mind up for me.

"We know we have a difficult game at Bristol ion Saturday and we'll go there and try to get another three points. If we get as many points as we can then you never know what can happen. We are very pleased with tonight but it doesn't mean anything if we don't back it up at the weekend.
