htafc.com caught up with Town manager Andy Ritchie after the 3-2 FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley.

"We gifted them both of their goals; we said at half-time that if we hadn't self-destructed twice, we would have been 1-0 up. However, the second-half was one-way traffic. We did really well and showed a lot of grit and determination. We deserved it in the end, with the amount of possession we had in the half.

"I thought Malvin's two strikes today were fantastic. He's done really well on the first one and if I were their manager I would be looking for the defender to bring him down and take a booking. I think he tried to, but Malvin was strong and stayed on his feet before slotting it away. You won't see a better goal today than his second one - what a strike! I'm just amazed that the goalkeeper didn't save it, because he pulled off a brilliant save from Frank later on. Perhaps Malvin should have got a hat-trick just before the end when he dragged his shot slightly wide.

"To be honest, they got a bit of a volley at half-time - not particularly due to the way we played because I thought we started brightly but we have to learn that when we are in dangerous situations, we have to put the ball out and take the hit before defending the throw in; we are learning.

"It's three unbeaten now which is a nice feeling. The lads are really pleased and very upbeat in the dressing room. It should be a good game for the TV!

"Accrington do well in Cup competitions because it's hard to come here; it's tight and there's a bit of a slope, which gives them a psychological advantage as other teams don't like it. However, we knew that if we played the way we can do, we'd come away with the result. We wondered at time if the goal was ever going to come but we managed to press for the winner.

"There is a financial aspect to the FA Cup - we get £16,000 for getting through this round and £28,000 for the next and in the scheme of things for football clubs, that is a lot of money. However, we're aiming to get in with the big fish in the third round and so a nice home tie against a non-League team tomorrow would be very nice! I will be waiting for our name to come out of the hat."
