ON THIS DAY - 1ST SEPTEMBER
1984
Brighton & Hove Albion 0 Huddersfield Town 1
Mick Buxton's Town side recorded the only win of their opening nine League games on this day back in 1984, winning 1-0 at Brighton's Goldstone Ground.
Midfielder Julian Winter (pictured above in his present role at Watford FC) grabbed the only goal of the game - one of five he netted for the Terriers in his 100+ appearances.
However, it was a grim time for the Terriers at the start of the campaign with the Club hitting the bottom of Canon League Division Two in October. Thankfully, Buxton eventually worked his old magic and a run of nine wins and one draw in ten games towards the end of the calendar year helped Town to an eventual 13th-place finish.
The Seagulls eventually finished sixth in the League.
