Happy Birthday Michael Collins!

The Town midfielder turns 22 today and he has good reason to celebrate, having been in impressive form under Gerry Murphy's caretaker charge recently.

Born in Halifax, Michael came through the Huddersfield Town Academy before making his first-team debut in mid-February 2005 during a 1-0 win over Blackpool at the Galpharm Stadium. However, he really made an impact at Town with his eye-catching performances at the beginning of the 2006/07 season, having gained national acclaim with his assist for Gary Taylor-Fletcher's equaliser in the FA Cup game at Chelsea in January of 2006.

He became Captain of the Republic of Ireland Under-19 side before earning his first call-up to the Under-21s in March 2007. He currently holds two caps at that level, but has recently earned another call-up for the Intercontinental Cup tournament to be held in Malaysia, which begins on May 15th.

At the time of writing, Mickey has made 122 appearances in the famous Blue and White stripes in all competitions - scoring 9 goals.
