JACK: WE'LL HAVE TO DIG DEEP

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2012

Right back Jack Hunt has told htafc.com that the side will have to dig deep to get the win they desire during Saturday's npower League game at Tranmere Rovers.

This weekend will be the third time that the 21 year-old has come up against the side from the Wirral during his fledgling career and Jack explained that he expects nothing except a tough test against Rovers on Saturday.

"Every time we I have played against Tranmere we have always had to dig really deep to get a result. They are always tough opponents, whether it's at home or away, so we know we are in for another tough game tomorrow," Jack exclusively told the Club's official website.

"However, we've played really well away from home and tomorrow won't be any different in terms of how we approach the game. We're full of confidence being back in second and we know we need to keep getting the three points every game, so that's what we're going there and aiming to get.

"We don't really think about the opponents too much. Once you step out onto the pitch, you have to try and play your game as the Gaffer sets us out to do. Away from home we have done that really well this season."

With Gary Roberts sidelined following a hernia operation, it is possible that Jack may have a different player ahead of him down the right side on Saturday - but with Town's strength in the wide areas he insisted that would be no issue.

"I like to have a good relationship with the winger in front of me. Obviously I know all of the lads here and I'll know the game of whoever steps into 'Robbo's' position and what service they want from me, so that's not something I worry about. We all know each other's strengths and weaknesses and hopefully I can play to their strengths."

After the attention that Town's record-breaking 43 game unbeaten run was given, the Terriers have bounced back well and have quietly embarked upon a seven match streak going into Saturday in an incredibly competitive League 1.

"We knew we had to," Jack admitted. "The teams below us now, who were ahead of us a couple of weeks ago, were winning a lot of games and picking up a lot of points and so we knew that we had to go on a run.

"We know we can't get away with draws - we want to get five or six wins on the bounce. We're currently on three, but we feel we should be on more after the Carlisle and Notts County games. However, we are picking up points and we're all happy about that.

"At this time last year I had just come back from Chesterfield and I was fighting for a spot in the team, so I'm loving this - my first full season in the team. We've picked so many points up - I believe our average is just short of two points a game, which is generally what teams get promoted on.

"A lot of the teams around us have still got to come to us and if the crowd can get behind us we should take points off them with the squad that we've got. For now, we just need to concentrate on one game at a time - starting with Tranmere on Saturday."
