INAUGURAL YORKSHIRE MASTERS FOR TOWN

Posted on: Wed 28 Jul 2010

A Huddersfield Town team did the Club proud on its Yorkshire Masters debut on Sunday 25 July.

The Terriers were represented by a host of former favourites, with former Wales international Steve Jenkins captaining a side that included goalkeeper Lee Martin, Craig Armstrong, Lee Duxbury, Simon Baldry, Tom Cowan, Paul Reid and Adie Moses.

Town were placed in group A of the tournament alongside Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday; a brace from current Bradford Park Avenue Assistant Manager Baldry sealed an opening 2-1 win against the Blades, but another double from Simon couldn't salvage anything against Wednesday - who ran out as 3-2 winners.

As a result, the Terriers finished second in the group - with Wednesday securing qualification by beating their city counterparts in the other group game.

An added bonus was that the excellent Baldry picked up a magnum of champagne on the evening after scooping the 'Golden Boot' award.
