DENTON LEAVES HUDDERSFIELD TOWN

Posted on: Tue 22 Jun 2010

Tom Denton will leave Huddersfield Town after the Club and the player came to an agreement to mutually terminate the remainder of his contract.

The 6' 7" striker's contract was due to end in the summer of 2011, but an agreement has been reached to settle the remainder of his deal.

Denton is a lifelong Town supporter and joined the Club from Evo-Stik League side Wakefield FC for an undisclosed fee under previous manager Stan Ternent in August 2008.

In November 2008 he gained first-team experience through a three month loan spell at Blue Square National side Woking. After returning to Town he rejoined Wakefield on loan in March 2009 and scored an impressive 12 goals in 13 appearances.

Another loan spell followed in July 2009 when he joined League Two outfit Cheltenham Town for six months. However, Tom only made four first team appearances at Whaddon Road and following his return to Huddersfield he moved to Wakefield for a second loan spell in February 2010. Denton played for the Bears for the rest of the season, scoring 10 goals in just 19 appearances.

Town manager Lee Clark commented: "I'd like to thank Tom for his contribution to the Club during his spell here. Throughout my time he has been a terrific professional and I'd like to wish him the best of luck for the future."
