CLARK'S MEN BREAK A CLUB RECORD

Posted on: Mon 26 Apr 2010

Lee Clark's men broke a Club record during their comprehensive 6-0 victory at Stockport County on Saturday.

The emphatic win at Edgeley Park featured six different Huddersfield Town goalscorers - Anthony Pilkington, Theo Robinson, Jordan Rhodes, Gary Roberts, Danny Drinkwater and Lee Novak - which was a first for the Club during an away League game in its near 102 year existence.

Clark's team have also scored six or more goals on three other occasions this season; the 7-1 romp over Brighton and Hove Albion in mid-August, the 6-1 FA Cup win over League Two Dagenham and Redbridge on November 6th and the 6-0 live Sky TV win over Wycombe Wanderers on November 14th. However, all these wins came on home soil.

Town's record away win came way back in September 1909 when the Terriers recorded an 11-0 win at non-league Heckmondwike in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. The Club have also recorded two 7-1 away wins (at Sheffield United in 1927 and Chesterfield in 1929), but on both occasions there were fewer than six different Town goalscorers.
