First-year professional Spencer Harris has today left Huddersfield Town after he was released from his contract.
The 19-year old centre-back was due to be out of contract in the summer but has been released from his current deal to pave the way for a move to Unibond League Premier Division side Ossett Town.
Spencer graduated from the Club's Academy last summer and has made ten appearances for Paul Stephenson's reserve team this term, scoring one goal, as well as a further eight appearances as an overage player for the under-18 side. He has also gained first-team experience through a two month loan spell at Unibond League Division One North side Curzon Ashton, in which he played seven times and scored three goals.
Huddersfield Town Manager Lee Clark today commented on Spencer's departure:
"I recently informed Spencer that he would not be getting an extension to his contract and as I have said all along, I will do everything to help the young players that are not lucky enough to get a deal here find a new Club. That is the reason I told Spencer of my decision so early - I don't want him to be struggling to find a new Club at the end of the season along the thousands of other youngsters in the same position. Thankfully that has worked out for him.
"He is a magnificent young man and this is the worst part of my job - Spencer has worked very hard all season. However, I have told him that this isn't necessarily the end of his League career - he now has the chance to forge a path elsewhere, and I wish him the best of luck."
Everyone at Huddersfield Town would like to wish Spencer the best of luck in his future endeavors.
