Town defender Neal Trotman has told htafc.com that he cannot wait to step out onto the pitch for his first West Yorkshire derby on Saturday when the Terriers take on Leeds United.
The 22-year old Preston North End loanee has enjoyed some success against the Whites in previous campaigns - he was a goalscorer during his former club Oldham's 3-1 win at Elland Road back in January 2008 - but he is expecting a totally different occasion during his first West Yorkshire derby.
"I have spoken to some of the lads about the game and they can't wait for it - they are relishing both the challenge and the atmosphere," the big centre-back told htafc.com.
"I would imagine it's going to be the biggest crowd of the season; no doubt Leeds will bring as many fans as possible too. The passion is going to be high and it's all about getting the bragging rights for the fans. Hopefully I will be involved, but everyone will want to be too - everyone wants to play in derbies."
"It's a massive game for us in terms of the League - a win against Leeds will be a massive boost for us and move us closer to the top of the League. Also, it will give us lots of confidence going into the game on Tuesday at Southampton.
"A win on Saturday will give us the belief that we can break into the top two."
Having not played much football over the last few seasons, Trotman has enjoyed his opening seven games for the Club and can feel his form returning all the time.
"I hadn't played for a while ahead of my Huddersfield debut at Yeovil and I wasn't match fit, but I would say I am now. I didn't play any football in January at all, with my last match being back in December, so for me it was all about fitting in and proving my fitness which I think I have done now.
"I struggled in my first home game against Carlisle and I could tell that I wasn't fully fit, but I'm ready now and getting into the swing of things.
"My main aim upon coming here was just to get games under my belt. I missed a lot of last season through injury and have not played much this season, so at the moment it's going really well. The fact that the side are playing well collectively is brilliant. My aim now is to help the side achieve promotion, benefitting both the Club and my career.
"I'm enjoying being here at the moment. I spoke to a few people about what it would be like and it has met my expectations. The lads, the manager and everyone else involved with the Club have been fantastic."
Lee Clark signed three new defenders in the January transfer window, massively increasing the competition for places in the back line - something that Neal feels will keep everyone on their toes.
"We have got great defenders at the Club. 'Clarkey' (Peter) and I have formed a good partnership and defensively we are playing well, but we have also got the support of both Nathan (Clarke) and Krystian (Pearce) who are also very good players. It's not just about the defenders though - all over the pitch we are defending well, right from the strikers.
"I know what Nathan and Krystian are all about - they are both very good defenders and are giving genuine competition for places. Happily though we have kept some clean sheets of late, which is what my job is all about."
