PELTS UP FOR THE CUP

Posted on: Thu 05 Nov 2009

Lee Peltier is not underestimating FA Cup opponents Dagenham and Redbridge ahead of Friday night's First Round clash in Huddersfield, kick-off 7.45pm.

The 22-year old right back is keen for the side to progress to the latter stages of the competition this season, but is expecting a tough test against the League Two high-flyers.

"We want to do well in every game and win all our matches and the FA Cup is no different. It's a chance to get to Wembley and obviously there is a trophy at the end of it, so we will be trying to win it!" Lee explained.

"We have absolutely battered every team that has come to our stadium and tried to play 4-4-2 against us, so I think Dagenham will come and try to get everyone behind the ball and work hard. We did a bit of work on how they play in training yesterday and I think they are quite direct - I expect them to be tough tackling too. However, I think the lads are more than capable of matching that and then we can play our own stuff, which will win us the game.

"I don't think you can underestimate anyone, especially in a cup game. Anything can happen in the FA Cup and we have prepared for this just as thoroughly and seriously as we do for any other game. To be fair, I don't know that much about them as a Club but I know they are up there in their division and that they have scored a lot of goals. We cannot take them lightly and we have to keep our level of performance up to the standard we have lately."

The ex-Liverpool and Yeovil man has featured in every League game so far this season and is hoping to play against the Daggers on Friday night.

"I'm just happy to play and every time I'm on the pitch I give my best, which I hope the fans and the manager can see. I'll just keep going and hopefully I will be involved in all the games."

Lee has been an integral part of the defence that has not conceded a goal at the Galpharm Stadium for a massive 444 minutes.

"The recent clean sheets have been pleasing for us. As a defender, that is what we are paid to do! It feels like it's all coming together nicely now as a back five, which includes Alex Smithies. The whole team is happy at the moment.

"It's good that we have a home cup draw and it's vital that we continue our home form, because that's been the key to our good start this season."
