DRINKY: "I WANT TO HELP THE TEAM SUCCEED"

Posted on: Fri 18 Sep 2009

On-loan midfielder Danny Drinkwater has told htafc.com that he is loving life as a Huddersfield Town player.

The talented 19-year old has spent just over a month in West Yorkshire following his season-long move from Manchester United and explained that he has enjoyed every minute of his time at the Club.

"It's a great club. The boys have really welcomed me into the team," said Danny.

"Mr. Ferguson told me that if I stayed at United, it was a possibility that I could have been involved in their Carling Cup games this season but he advised me to go out on loan and get more experience. He left the choice of club up to me but explained to me that Huddersfield is a good club and he felt I could learn a lot from Lee Clark. I felt I needed to come out on loan and experience first-team football myself too.

"I'm happy here, definitely. As I said it's a great club with some very good players and some top class management and coaches. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."

Next up for Danny and co is a tough trip to the capital to face Kenny Jackett's Millwall at the New Den, where the midfielder is in line to make his seventh appearance as a Terrier. Drinkwater's versatility has proved to be a major asset to Lee Clark; so far he has played on both wings and in the centre of midfield for the first-team.

"I class myself as an attacking central midfielder to be honest, but I am honestly more than happy to play wherever I can help the team the most. I'd also prefer playing in a more defensive role as opposed to being on the bench!"

Danny has already opened his goalscoring account for Town with a long-range strike during the 7-1 demolition of Brighton & Hove Albion and expects to be amongst the goals again before the end of the season - hopefully starting against the Lions on Saturday.

"I always set myself a goal target as well as others and if I can meet them I feel like I have done my job."
