Town: Lionel Ainsworth (16, 35), Lee Novak (50), Jack Hunt (80)
Town continued their positive pre-season build-up with a comprehensive victory over Bradford (Park Avenue) at the Horsfall Stadium.
Lionel Ainsworth played as a forward and netted two first-half goals before Lee Novak and substitute Jack Hunt completed the scoring in the second period.
Town lined up in a 4-4-2 formation for the start of the game, with 'keeper Eastwood behind a back four of Ridehalgh, skipper Nathan Clarke, Franks and trialist Harban. The midfield diamond consisted of the deep-lying Goodwin behind Tom Clarke, Flynn and Berrett with Novak and Ainsworth leading the line.
The Terriers started brightly and a good spell of patient passing involving the entire side in the 9th minute ended with Berrett's right-wing cross dropping into the hands of the home goalkeeper with Tom Clarke waiting at the back post.
A positive run down the right channel and cross from Ainsworth also found the goalkeeper three minutes later, but this time the ball was much closer to finding its intended target of Novak.
The first real chance of the game came Town's way in the 15th minute and Novak will have been very disappointed not to capitalise. The former Gateshead man won a free-kick down the right and after Ainsworth received a short pass from Berrett and crossed into the box, the striker nodded the ball wide from close range when totally unmarked at the near post.
GOAL - It didn't matter as the Terriers took the lead a minute later through Lionel Ainsworth. Midfielder Clarke made a positive run at the heart of the Park Avenue defence, darting between two opposition players to reach the edge of the box before squaring to the diminutive forward; Ainsworth took one touch before looking up and bending the ball around the goalkeeper and into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Nathan Clarke lofted a header over the bar as Town's dominance continued in the 24th minute before Ainsworth saw his shot from a clever low cross by Novak deflected inches wide of goal two minutes later.
A raking cross-field pass from the younger Clarke brother in the 32nd minute found the chest of Michael Flynn inside the area, but he could only rifle a volley straight at the 'keeper from an acute angle.
GOAL - Good alert play from James Berrett in the 35th minute led to Town doubling their advantage, with Lionel Ainsworth grabbing his second of the game. The Academy graduate robbed an opposition player of the ball inside the Bradford half before drawing the last defender and sliding the ball perfectly to his left for the striker, who drew the goalkeeper before placing his side-footed shot into the bottom corner.
A rare error in judgement by Town defender Franks presented the home side with their first real chance of the game in the 43rd minute, but the Park Avenue number 9 scuffed his shot wide when under heavy pressure from the recovering first-year professional.

GOAL - It didn't take the Terriers long to score their third goal of the game, with Lee Novak netting in the 50th minute. An excellent sliding tackle from Tom Clarke on the edge of the Town box was bettered by an exceptional pass over halfway into the path of Ainsworth, who skinned his marker down the left channel before standing up a cross to the near post. Novak was unmarked and completed the simple task of nodding the ball past the goalkeeper to extend Town's lead.
Town continued to press their hosts for a fourth goal and skipper Clarke went close in the 56th minute, scuffing a volley up in the air before collecting the ball and sending a left-foot shot from inside the box well wide of the far post.
Novak then left a defender in his wake down the dead ball line in the 60th minute but wasted the crossing opportunity with Michael Flynn waiting for a tap-in before Flynn struck the bar with an innovative chip from the edge of the area a minute later.
Stephenson introduced the youngsters after the hour mark, with Leigh Franks - one of four remaining professionals on the field - taking up the Captain's armband. Despite the drop in experience for the Terriers, their dominance continued and substitute Jack Hunt went close to adding a fourth with an impressive dipping volley from the edge of the box in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, the ball dropped just wide of the 'keeper's right-hand post.
Matt Glennon had to be alert to fist away a powerful drive from the home number ten in the 69th minute in a rare Bradford breakaway.
The rain started battering the Horsfall Stadium as the final ten minutes approached, but it didn't affect Town's play and they soon scored a fourth to cap off the evening.
GOAL - First-year professional Jack Hunt netted the game's fourth goal with ten minutes remaining. The winger seized upon a poor goal-kick from Avenue's substitute goalkeeper before playing a one-two with fellow sub Josh McLean on the edge of the box and firing low into the far corner from fourteen yards out.
The home custodian was at it again a minute later - dallying on the ball and presenting McLean with a chance to shoot - but the Town man slid his effort wide of the vacant net with the goalkeeper sprawling at his feet.
