GRANT THORNTON SUPPORTS RE-BRANDED TOWN

Posted on: Fri 26 Jun 2009

The Leeds office of Grant Thornton has made a five-figure donation to Huddersfield Town Football Club, recently re-branded as 'The Yorkshire Club'.

The financial services firm has pledged its support in recognition of the way in which Huddersfield Town is nurturing links with supporters and organisations across the county, including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance's 'Keep It Up' campaign.

Jonathan Riley, managing partner of Grant Thornton in Leeds, said: "We are delighted to support Huddersfield Town, which works hard for its fans, and for the community at large.

"As a firm, we are equally aware of our responsibility to the community, and we're looking forward to working together for the benefit of both our organisations."

Huddersfield Town's Commercial Director Sean Jarvis said: "I would like to thank Grant Thornton for their support of the Club. We are looking to build new relationships with businesses all across the county and the fact that a successful, national organisation with a strong base in Yorkshire such as Grant Thornton have entered into a partnership with us is another indication of the progress already in the New Era here at the Club."

The recent change of ownership and management has seen Huddersfield Town, complete with new crest and logo, work hard to build mutually-beneficial relationships, both with its growing army of fans and with organisations around the region. Its new message to fans is 'you buy the season tickets, we'll buy the players' has certainly raised the profile of the Club.

Its pioneering fundraising partnership with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance means that the charity's distinctive red branding will appear on Town's home shirts for the next three seasons - the first time a non-commercial group has occupied the traditional "sponsors" position.
