The first round draw for the 2009/10 Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be made live on Sky Sports' Soccer AM programme on Saturday August 15th.
As Town received a bye in the first round of last season's competition they will not be one of the 16 clubs seeded to round two of the 2009/10 contest, so Lee Clark and company will discover who they will face live on television on the morning.
Town don't have a good record since the competition was first sponsored by Jonhstone's in 2006; the side was defeated at Darlington in round two of last season's contest, met defeat at Grimsby Town in the 2007/08 campaign and crashed to a round one home defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers in 2006. In fact, the Terriers have not won a game in the competition since a 3-0 home victory over Morecambe in September 2004.
However, the Terriers have excelled in the Football League Trophy in years gone by. In the 2001/02 season Lou Macari's side reached the Northern Final following victories over Halifax Town, Wrexham, Scunthorpe United and Hull City only to be defeated by Blackpool over two legs. The Club faired even better in the 1993/94 season to reach the overall final of the Autoglass Trophy at Wembley Stadium and although Richard Logan's goal earned the side a 1-1 draw with Swansea City over 120 minutes, Town were defeated in the ensuing penalty shootout.
