Since htafc.com asked fans to send in tributes on Friday, the Club has been inundated with messages; below are a select few:
"Dear A. Booth (legend) - you started your 1st first team game in the blue and white stripes the season I started watching and supporting Huddersfield Town, so it's going to be strange you not been around. My history and memories of Huddersfield Town have always had an Andy Booth. Just want to say thanks for everything you have done for the club!" - James Marsh
"Boothy - I've been a Town fan for 43 years and you really are up there with the very best - a true legend. Many thanks from me and my son (who started supporting Town at the start of your career) for all the fantastic memories, your example on the field and of course, the goals! Enjoy your playing retirement and best wishes in your new role as club Ambassador." - Geoff & Andrew Johnson, Stalybridge
"My mum has been a Town fan for over fifty years and myself over 20 years, we think will it be possible to find another footballer worthy of wearing the number 23 shirt. Your professionalism on and off the pitch is second to none and when we have spoken to you, you are courteous and friendly. You were successful on the pitch and no doubt in the future off it in your new role. All the best Andy to a true legend and giving the fans an inspiration to support our Club." - Neil & Sheila Riva
"Thanks Boothy for your terrific contribution to HTAFC and the wider Huddersfield community. Best wishes for your future endeavours with the Club. You will always be the fans favourite!" - Janice, Philip, James & Rebecca Lodge
"Dear Andy, words can't express what you have done for Huddersfield Town. You will never be forgotten.
Good luck in your new role and in everything you do!" - Kester Loy
"Cheers for everything Andy. You've been an absolute credit to our great club, right from your first game through to your last one. I bet you'll be just as much of a success in your future as you have been in your past, even though there won't be as many goals! Blue Army!" - Alan Hollingworth
"Mr. Booth, you are a true legend - the greatest striker England never had! You'll always be remembered as one of the greatest Town players that ever played for us. You're headers will always be missed." - Liam Marsden
"Thanks for the hours of pleasure you have given to all of us over the years. The hours we have all spent reminiscing about your goals and the great effort you have always given to town will continue for many years." - John Robb and the Heavy Woollen Branch Supporters Club
"Please pass on mine and my family's respect to Andrew (Boothy) Booth for the loyal and most dedicated service throughout his long career and indeed association with Huddersfield Town. We all have some great memories, my father and my sons that will live with us forever, my elderly father for the Play-Off final against the Gas and my own memories from travelling the length and breadth of England watching Town. The everlasting memory will be a day in the distant past when he was an Owl. Easter, circa 1997, my eldest son Adam who was then about 9 years old and I were in the Fish Bar opposite what was C&A, Adam says "Dad that's Andy Booth sat behind us", we clocked him and he said I'll come over in a moment. We got into conversation and he asked about the match on Easter Monday, we were playing Sheff Utd at home, Adam asked for an autograph and Boothy signed his match ticket. Fast forward to Easter Monday 2009, some 12 years later and we're taking Jake our first grandson (1 year old) to his first ever game, and to our great satisfaction Boothy scores the only and winning goal, a great story to tell Jake in years to come.
Sadly, I'll be the only one from the family who can make it for the match to honour our hero in person, I 'm sure it will be an emotional occasion." - Mark D Siswick
"Thanks for all you have done for the Club down the years. You have always shown true spirit and have always worn the blue and white with pride. I cannot see another on the horizon to take your place - true there will always be goalscorers but not many will show the same spirit as you. You will be sorely missed." - David Westerby - a fan of over 45 years
"I will miss Andy Booth next season - good luck to him." - Alice Sandford
"Legend - noun [C]; someone or something very famous and admired, usually because of their ability in a particular area: say no more. Thanks Boothy." - Matt Delaney and family
"I heard the sad news that Boothy is to retire and now feel very old indeed! I have shared the highs and lows over the years and watched players come and go; however Andy has always been present and given 100% to the cause. He has been a true professional and will never need to buy a pint in town ever again! In these days of self praise and celebrity he stands as a sportsman of true values and is aware of the pride to wear the famous blue and white. That is why he is so loved by town fans despite the creaky knees and bad back! He was always true to the cause and was a town fan through and through. The memories are hard to recall for a 45 yr old and having lived in Scotland for a few years have missed out on recent events but being unable to be there on Saturday, I raised a glass to Andy at 3pm and thanked him for the memories over the years and of games home and away shared with friends no longer around to celebrate. All the best for the future Andy and good luck in your new challenge for the Club. Up the mighty Terriers!" - Dave Hall, Scotland
"Boothy! You are a true legend, always playing with pride, passion and belief what the game is all about, but most of all pride in wearing the blue and white strips. Always in our hearts. From myself and all the terriers serving out in Afghanistan with the British Army and all the forces." - Mark Cherryholme
"Thank you so much for your contribution to our great club, "legend" can be an over-used term but in your case it is very fitting. Good luck in your new ambassadorial role - with you handing out Ferrero Rochers to potential sponsors etc how can they fail not to contribute? If you can somehow produce a male offspring with Darren Bullock, my all time dream Town player would be born! Cheers Boothy." - Simon White
