KELLY: "IT'S THE RIGHT MOVE FOR ME"
New loan signing Martin Kelly has told htafc.com that his loan move to Huddersfield Town has come just at the right time.
The 18-year old defender has moved to West Yorkshire from Premier League giants Liverpool for the rest of the 2008/09 campaign and is keen to get some first-team football under his belt at League One level.
"I'm glad to have picked Huddersfield as the Club to come to," the 6' 3" Liverpudlian explained. "I'm made up that I have the opportunity to get a bit of experience in this League and I am sure this is the right move for me. I think it will be a really good experience for me.
"I had an expectation that I might go out on loan, but it was only after the England under-19 match on Wednesday night that I knew what options were available to me. It was the reserve team manager at Liverpool who called to tell me about the possibility. We talked about it for a good hour or two and came to the conclusion that it was the right decision for me to come here.
"I know I am still young and this is part of my learning curve. The experience can only be good for me."
As a current England under-19 player, Martin is an international teammate of Town custodian Alex Smithies and he admitted that having a familiar face around the Club will make the transition easier.
"I know Alex from my time with England - he is a great lad. He has made me welcome here already and although I have only just arrived, I feel like I've settled in pretty well. I played against Anthony Pilkington when he was at Stockport in pre-season too and I'm sure I will know everyone else soon."
Naturally a centre-half, Kelly can play anywhere across the back four and is his versatility will be useful to Town boss Lee Clark for the rest of the season.
"It could be my debut at Hereford tomorrow, but we will have to see what the manager decides. I'm looking forward to my time here."
