Town boss Lee Clark has handed French striker Jonathan Tehoue a contract until the end of the current season, pending international clearance.

The 24-year old has been on trial at the Galpharm Stadium for the past three weeks and has impressed during training; he also scored during a recent behind-closed-doors friendly at Doncaster Rovers.

A powerful figure standing six feet tall, the Frenchman has most recently been plying his trade in the top division in Turkey for Konyaspor. He started his career in his native France with junior side Top Athletic Club Caen North before moving to CSL Aulnay and Villepinte.

He joined Le Havre as a 13-year old before moving to Ligue 2 side SM Caen in 1999. Injuries restricted his time with Caen and he moved onto Ligue 1 team SC Bastia in 2003, where he netted seven goals in the 03/04 season.

A short spell with Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia followed before Tehoue moved to Belgian Division Two side Excelsior Virton, where he bagged five goals in just 12 games. That alerted Belgian giants FC Brussels to him and he moved there in 2006, netting a further five goals in 20 appearances.

Jonathan moved to Turkey in the summer of 2007, staying with Kasimpasaspor for six months before moving to Konyaspor. In total, he netted nine goals in 38 appearances.

Town boss Lee Clark told htafc.com that he signed Tehoue as he offers the team a different option in attack.

"He is gradually getting fitter all the time," Lee said of Tehoue. "He is a strong player - a bit different to what we already had here in terms of his physical presence. He is competitive, has a good touch as well and a good change of pace and when he gets the chance to shoot he hits the target on a regular basis with quite a powerful shot.

"Every signing you make is a bit of a risk. With Jonathan, you hope that what you have seen of him in training and at his previous clubs can continue. I just feel that we needed something different in that area of the field and that initial short-term deal suits us down to the ground really."

Tehoue will take squad number 37 at Town.
