CADS LOVING LIFE AT TOWN
Danny Cadamarteri has told htafc.com that he is enjoying life at Huddersfield Town under manager Lee Clark and that he would love to stay beyond his current contract.
'Cads' was given the Man of the Match award after the weekend victory over Peterborough United for a typically industrious performance in attack and explained that he is delighted to have played in 25 games this term after injury problems at the start of the campaign.
"I'm enjoying it at the moment but I am just trying to keep my head down and stay in the team," the 29-year old explained.
"Since the new management staff came in - especially Blackie - it has been a completely different training regime with regard to the way in which we warm up and train through the week. It is benefiting me in particular.
"I am not going to criticise the old regime, but it was well documented that I had a series of injuries with my hamstrings and I probably came back a little bit too soon. Now we are doing a lot of maintenance work and things are a lot more structured and we haven't been picking up any injuries at all, which is great from my point of view.
"I feel fit, strong and sharp and I am enjoying my football as well. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that the new regime keeps working to benefit me."
The former Everton trainee has featured both on the right wing and as an orthodox striker for the Terriers this season - positions that he is happy in.
"I just tend to be played where managers think I can make an impact and have an effect on the game. Under Gerry and Mitch I was playing down the middle but when the new manager arrived he decided to play me as a wide right player. Personally, I just enjoy being involved in attacking play but I know I have to chip in with the defensive side of things.
"I will always give 110% wherever I am played and aim to contribute to the team's performance."
Despite his recent excellent form, Cleckheaton-born Danny is yet to score this season; however, he insisted that this is not playing on his mind.
"I have never been one to have a very high goal tally in my career! I have gone through periods in my career where I have not played a great amount of successive games up front, whereas if you look at players like 'Jevo' they have a terrific strike rate and have always played as an out and out striker.
"I have regularly played on the left and right wings, behind the striker or even as a wing-back in my career. Sometimes it does concern you but if I am doing well, the team is winning and I am contributing it won't affect me.
"The manager and Terry (McDermott) have both said it would be nice if I chipped in with some goals and I would like to be if I get the opportunities. I will keep working hard and contributing to the performance."
'Cads' is currently out of contract at the end of the season and admitted he would love to stay at the Galpharm Stadium past the 09/10 campaign.
"There were discussions under the last regime about extending my contract here but now the new manager has come in and he wants to look at everybody, which is fair enough. I am not pressing the issue but I would love to stay if the opportunity comes available.
"I understand that there is a bit of interest in me and that's perhaps predictable given my contract ends in the summer, but I am just trying to focus on staying in the team and helping us get some results. If something transpires from that here at Huddersfield that would be great. I am happy here."
