CADS: "I FELT I COULD BEAT TELFER"
Striker Danny Cadamarteri has told htafc.com that he felt he had the beating of the Leeds defence before he set up Town's late winner at Elland Road on Saturday.
The 29-year old forward was introduced to Saturday's derby game as an 81st minute substitute for Keigan Parker and outpaced defender Paul Telfer in added time before crossing for Michael Collins to volley home the winning goal.
"I was just following my natural instincts," Cads explained. "Having watched Telfer and Michalik for the whole game, I felt that if I had the chance to run at them I could get past them and so my first thought was to knock the ball past Telfer when I had the chance. Once I'd passed him I had a look up to see if anything was on and I spotted Mickey Collins making a late run, so I dinked it back to him.
"I was so pleased to help get the winning goal after some of the stick that the Leeds fans were giving me. It's a really good result for us."
The Cleckheaton-born striker missed most of October through a hamstring injury and admitted that he is delighted to be playing again.
"It's good to be back. I had a full ninety minutes in the reserve game at York last week which was really good for me and it was good to get some more minutes on the pitch at the end of the Leeds game. Now I'm just going to try and work my way back into the starting eleven."
His next chance to feature for the first team comes on Saturday, when Murphy's men make the long journey south to play Brighton and Hove Albion at their Withdean Stadium.
"At the end of the day, Gerry has come in and he has a firm idea of the way he wants the side to play and the players he wants to use. Hopefully I can force my way into the reckoning because I feel I can make an impact on the team - just as every other squad member will feel. I'm going to keep my head down and get on with things and hopefully I'll be involved.
"I hope this is the start of a run of results for us. We've been so stop-start this season. People talk about confidence levels but if we can't take confidence from a win at Elland Road in front of 32,000 fans then we never will. Hopefully that win will be the start for us now and we can push on."
