Town boss Stan Ternent has surprised everyone at the Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena this evening by making ten changes to the starting eleven for tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy game against League Two Darlington, kick-off 7.45pm.

It is testament to the strength of Ternent's squad that Town are able to do this, with a good mix of youth and experience in the Terriers starting eleven this evening.

The only survivor from Saturday's starting eleven is winger Gary Roberts, with young England goalkeeper Alex Smithies (pictured) and defender Tom Clarke making their seasonal debuts tonight.

htafc.com is speculating that Ternent will deploy his side in a 4-4-2 formation this evening, with Smithies playing behind a back four of left-back Dave Unsworth, centre-backs Tom Clarke and skipper Chris Lucketti and Andy Holdsworth at right-back. Robbie Williams and Gary Roberts could occupy the left and right wings respectively with Michael Collins partnering James Berrett in central midfield, leaving Danny Cadamarteri to partner Keigan Parker in attack.
