CADS HOPING FOR FOXES REUNION
Town striker Danny Cadamarteri is fighting to be fit for this Saturday's big League One clash against his former club Leicester City.
The 28-year old forward played for the Foxes in early 2007 and is hoping to feature against his old teammates having rejoined training yesterday.
A hamstring problem kept the pacey striker out of Town's impressive 1-1 draw at Oldham last weekend, but he told htafc.com that he can feel the belief that performance has given the squad.
"The lads took confidence out of the performance more than the result against Oldham; I think we more than matched them, especially in the first half," Danny, who was at Boundary Park last weekend, explained. "I think we were just disappointed not to score a few more goals.
"We've been working and building; we have had some disappointing results and now were starting to pick up some decent results against some good teams. If we can start bringing that into the Leicester game as well then we have got a little bit of a run. We've seen with other teams and in previous seasons if we can get a run going, we can push on and hopefully do well."
Danny played at the Walkers Stadium following a successful trial period in December 2006, completing his return from a six-month ban.
He continued: "I never actually started a game there; I just made a few appearances from the bench. I have got fond memories even though I've didn't start games. It's a big club, it's a family orientated club as well, I enjoyed my time there but my main focus is now on Huddersfield.
"Just coming back into football was great from my point of view but hopefully I'm going to have fond memories on Saturday night after a good result against Leicester.
"I was surprised when Leicester were relegated to League One, but perhaps it's something that they possibly needed. Everything was geared up for that Club to be back in the Premiership, but they weren't quite up to the standard and they've had a bit of a fall from grace. I'd expect them to push onwards and upwards now, but we want to do that too as we're a big Club in this division too.
"I think Leicester will bring a lot of fans and our supporters will want to see the games against the so-called bigger teams. I'm sure the Stadium will be packed tomorrow and it all makes for an exciting challenge."
As for the availability of Cadamarteri for this weekend's game at the Galpharm, he revealed that he came through a stern test during yesterday's training session!
"I'm doing alright - I rejoined training at Thursday and I got kicked about a bit by a few of the lads, which was a nice little tester! I'm trying to make myself available for selection in some way, shape or form and I hope the Gaffer sees fit to involve me; if not, I'll look to play in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy match at Darlington on Tuesday."
