Town midfielder James Berrett has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifiers in Bulgaria and Portugal.

The Academy graduate already boasts three caps at that level despite only being 19 years old and has been summoned once more for the two games against the European outfits in Bulgaria on 5^th September and in Portugal on September 9^th.

Don Givens' squad leave on September 2^nd, meaning that Berrett will miss Town's trip to Cheltenham on Saturday 6^th September.

In other news, young goalkeeper Alex Smithies has been put on standby for England's Under-19 international against Holland on Tuesday 9^th September.
