FLYNN: "WE'LL DO WELL THIS SEASON"
htafc.com talked to Town midfielder Michael Flynn this morning and he told us that based on last night's Carling Cup Second Round performance against Sheffield United, he thinks the Terriers will go far this season.
The 27-year old Welshman scored his first goal for his new Club last night and despite the 2-1 defeat, he saw enough in the performance to be encouraged about.
"It's a shame about the result as I thought we put out our best performance so far this season, especially for me personally," the former Blackpool explained.
"It is a disappointment but we showed a lot of good things out there, which tells me that we're going to do well this season.
"We were all off it last Saturday, losing 3-1 at home. Teams will come here and raise their game against us, but we have to make sure that we at least match them. We gave some sloppy goals away, but last night was a whole different story. It was very encouraging.
"We need to kill games off, as we had three or four very good chances last night. Perhaps on another day they would have gone in, but Sheffield United are a good team who have started the season well and we have to put them away."
Flynn has been filling in on the left side of midfield for his manager at the start of the season, but Town fans saw him excel in his preferred central role yesterday evening.
He continued: "Central midfield is my position, but I'll play wherever the manager wants me to. If me doing a hard working shift down the left side helps the team out I'm happy to do that, but I do prefer it through the middle."
Michael now hopes that the team can carry a similar level of performance into this Saturday's League One encounter with Millwall at the New Den (kick-off 3pm).
"If we go into the Millwall game with the same attitude and belief as we approached last night, I think we will come away with three points. There's no point in expecting anything less - we have to go there trying to win. We'll take it one game at a time."
