New Town Captain Chris Lucketti has reason to look forward to tomorrow's first pre-season friendly at Bury more than most.

Not only is Lucketti making his first appearance for nearly seven years in the famous Blue and White stripes after making the summer move from Sheffield United as Captain, but it is the Club he played over 250 times for in a six year spell between 1993 and 1999 - with Stan Ternent as manager.

"I had a good spell under the Gaffer at Bury," Chris explained. "We enjoyed a great deal of success - probably the most that the Club has had in recent history - and it is good to be back playing for him again.

"I'm looking forward to going back on Saturday, as I had six great years there. To be captain of the Club when we went up to what is now the Championship was fantastic; it was a great time to be there. They are not the biggest supported club, but I'd love to see them get back to where they were when I was there."

Having worked with the new Town boss previously, Lucketti is sure that he will be a success at the Club.

"The Gaffer explains himself well and the lads will know, in no uncertain terms, how we will be playing come the start of the season. The lads are already getting to know him day by day.

"We know it's not going to be easy this season, but looking at the players we have in the squad and the way in which the Gaffer works we are quietly confident. We won't be shouting about it, but we have a lot of belief in our ability and come the end of the season we will be there or there abouts."

"Pre-seasons are never easy, whether you are in first year as a pro or my age! If you can ensure you get through it without any injuries, it gives you a great base for the season ahead."
