Stan Ternent has revealed that new signing Chris Lucketti will be Club Captain of Huddersfield Town for the forthcoming 2008/09 season.

The experienced 36-year old has been skipper at the majority of his former clubs and Ternent believes he is the ideal man for the job.

He explained: "Chris is a very important signing for me as he'll be the Captain this season. We go back a long way. I'd been on with his move for quite a long time now. He's a proper player; a real leader and a good guy.

"We certainly needed some experience and know-how but now we have a situation where we have five extremely good players for the heart of the defence, which certainly gives us the competition for places that we need. I want to recreate that all over the pitch and with the help of the Board, we are putting a good squad together."

Lucketti told htafc.com that he was shocked to get the armband.

"I didn't expect to be named Captain but I value it as a great honour. I'm really looking forward to the season getting underway."
