GOODWIN FOR THE TERRIERS
Town boss Stan Ternent has made his second new signing of the closed-season by capturing the signature of 26-year-old Jim Goodwin. Town fought off competition from a number of Championship clubs to secure his signature.
The box-to-box midfielder, who has enjoyed spells at Celtic, Stockport and Scunthorpe, penned a three year deal today.
Manager Ternent said today: "Jim is a real winner and a very competitive midfield player who is a proper Championship performer. There were others in for him, but he's seen the Club, noted the support and taken on board our ambitions - he knows we want promotion and he's keen to be a part of it.
"This isn't a dress rehearsal for me; I want a competitive team that's hopefully going to be right up in the top part of the division and signing quality players like Keigan Parker and Jim Goodwin is a step in the right direction.
"Our young players will learn from them as they both know what winning promotion from League One is all about and it will soon hit home that every game is absolutely crucial and that a little bit of experience might just help us close that gap on the top clubs.
"We weren't too far off last season and I was impressed with the younger players during the run-in, so a signing like Jim gives us some solid competition."
"The squad is starting to build nicely with Jim and Keigan added, but they are only the first two of a few who I'm hoping to bring in. I've had to work hard to get them here, but they see Huddersfield Town as a big club and they've got the same ambition as me in wanting success.
"Jim knows what it's all about and I'm delighted he's decided to come and join us.
"We can't make any promises but we've got a Board with ambition, near enough 16,000 season-ticket holders and it's our responsibility to build a team that can be right up there. That being the case, Jim and Keigan are big signings for now and if I can get another three or four of that quality I'll be very satisfied."
